Covid hair loss treatments

If you’ve just begun to look into Covid hair loss treatments, you have a couple of options, you can either spend hours upon hours on the internet, procure for yourself a collection of hair loss products and conduct your own experiments or you can help yourself to the findings below.

Like you, I began my search for a hair loss treatment with a simple Google search. I typed in, “Covid hair loss,” “Will it grow back?” “Does it grow back?” into the search engine, and a dizzying variety of Covid hair loss articles and treatments popped up.

I was relieved to find out that I wasn’t the only one who had experienced Covid hair loss. I found out losing hair after Covid was quite normal. In fact, 1 in 10 people who recover from symptomatic Covid experience hair loss

The good news was, there were products on the market proven to regrow hair. But before I was about to put any product on top of my exposed scalp, I was going to scrutinize each and every ingredient. I did, and I did not like what I found out.

Over eighty percent of products contained potentially harmful chemicals or preservatives, even the ones that claimed to be natural. Were there no truly natural options on the market?

So I took what knowledge I had about organic formulation and set out to find organic ingredients that were proven to regrow hair, and I stumbled upon adaptogenic mushrooms

Adaptogens are herbs, roots and other plant substances that support the body’s ability to deal with stress and bring the body (and hair) back into balance. Chaga, reishi, shiitake, cordyceps and maitake mushrooms are all considered adaptogenic. In addition to being adaptogenic, certain compounds found in chaga mushrooms were found to be more potent than Minoxidil in stimulating hair follicle cell growth!

After conducting a mountain of research on adaptogenic mushrooms and getting over my apprehension of putting anything on my head (should even more hair fall out), I came up with an adaptogenic mushroom-infused hair loss treatment that produced promising results - my coarse hair became smoother and little baby sprouts of hair started to grow along my hairline and part.

My apprehensions were eased knowing that the adaptogenic mushrooms were derived from sustainable sources and free from potentially toxic preservatives; the bioactive compounds found therein contained immunomodulatory properties which the synthetics lacked.

It was time to test my adaptogenic mushroom hair loss treatment against its synthetic equivalents. I decided to make the test public. I submitted the adaptogenic mushroom experiment for consideration to the Mycological Innovations Challenge Grant.

Here’s what I learned:

I learned to overcome the fear of putting my work out there.

Who was I to submit my work among scientists and academics? (A citizen scientist who had the luxury of being speculative.)

What if it didn’t work? (It did.

What if the mushrooms in the hair loss treatment ate or destroyed the culture medium? (It didn’t.

Upon observation, the adaptogenic mushroom hair treatment culture grew as much, if not more than the synthetic equivalents.

The adaptogenic mushrooms in the hair treatment culture did not inhibit growth, nor were there any noticeable abnormalities or discoloration in its culture plate.

What started out as independent, speculative experiment into Covid hair loss treatments evolved into a veritable test of adaptogenic application, providing to be a viable alternative to synthetics for those suffering with Covid-related hair loss.
